,Found d some stuff @ estate sale, but not sure what these are, cupped tube sockets?

Look out for that rectumfrier, it might be Selenium. I wouldnt use it, very toxic gasses when they burn.

There's an orange label right under the bolt, looks like it reads SELENIUM. A little is good for you, just a couple of micrograms often found in multivitamin/mineral pills. More than that, toxic. Big rectifier should be "for display purposes only."

Thanks guy good to know, I dont think I'll be using that big recto anytime soon :shock: its the cupped 9 pin tube socket that have me puzzled?

Just a guess - they were intended for use in hi voltage equipment. I remember seeing some sockets like these in old televisions. There's also the 'potato masher' 5R4's with a similar cup around the base of the tube.

I'm intrigued with the UFO looking vacuum tube, wonder what that is? And that doodad in the bottom photo, some sorta calibrated good luck charm?

For sure the cupped tube sockets are for high Voltage
I have some in 8 pin...

Ditto on the UFO tube, looks like a dually (recto maybe) that operates at very high voltages. Hence the plate pins routed out the top of the envelope. Odd to be pins rather than top caps though.

Those tube modules in the first picture are interesting.

Need a different preamp? Just plug in a new one. :D
