Look out for that rectumfrier, it might be Selenium. I wouldnt use it, very toxic gasses when they burn.

Re: what are these
There's an orange label right under the bolt, looks like it reads SELENIUM. A little is good for you, just a couple of micrograms often found in multivitamin/mineral pills. More than that, toxic. Big rectifier should be "for display purposes only."TUBEDUDE wrote:Look out for that rectumfrier, it might be Selenium. I wouldnt use it, very toxic gasses when they burn.

Re: what are these
Just a guess - they were intended for use in hi voltage equipment. I remember seeing some sockets like these in old televisions. There's also the 'potato masher' 5R4's with a similar cup around the base of the tube.menger66 wrote: its the cupped 9 pin tube socket that have me puzzled?
I'm intrigued with the UFO looking vacuum tube, wonder what that is? And that doodad in the bottom photo, some sorta calibrated good luck charm?

let you do a little shot of whiskey before you install the tube?menger66 wrote:its the cupped 9 pin tube socket that have me puzzled?
Re: what are these
For sure the cupped tube sockets are for high Voltage
I have some in 8 pin...

Re: what are these
Ditto on the UFO tube, looks like a dually (recto maybe) that operates at very high voltages. Hence the plate pins routed out the top of the envelope. Odd to be pins rather than top caps though.

Those tube modules in the first picture are interesting.
Need a different preamp? Just plug in a new one.
