Zwreck with Normster Reverb?
Is there any reason the Normster Reverb as implemented in the Rocket wouldn't work in the Zwreck-style amps? Thanks guys.

						Re: Zwreck with Normster Reverb?
It's the same thing, Zwreck has 220k/220k voltage divider and Rocket doesn't. Older Zwreck's used softer B+ filtering but currently they are 22uf I believe in preamp stages.
I've built a number of Normster Reverb Rockets they sound great whether you decide to go octal power section or EL84's.
Also, check out rjguitar's Rockster Reverb

Thanks Mark! Where is that voltage divider in the circuit? I've read about it but I'm a little confused about where it fits in. I'm thinking about a Zwreck reverb or 2xEL34 rocket reverb build for a Bluesbreaker Cab i have sitting around.

See below it's an additional 220k from PI entrance to the end of the tail resistor 47k.Matt D wrote:Thanks Mark! Where is that voltage divider in the circuit? Re: Zwreck with Normster Reverb?
That EL34 version looks really perfect for a Bluesbreaker Cab. Is this the layout for the combo you made with the 350-0-350 PT? I have a MC Marshall 50 watt OT kicking around. I would probably lower the filtering to JTM 50 specs and add a GZ34. Kind of a Vox/Marshall/Wreck hybrid. Would a JTM45 Power Transformer be appropriate here?

						Re: Zwreck with Normster Reverb?
Well I used the layout for board layout but after that I went my own way.
One Reverb Rocket is MC 40-18029 PT, MC 40-18001 OT with 4/8/16 taps, MC 40-18003 choke, and Hammond 1750A reverb driver.
Tone board layout like Normster's Rocket but with extra bypass caps for boosting. Pots are wired like an 18w Plexi from 18watt.com layout with MV off the treble pot. Not PPIMV or LarMar type.
Used short reverb pan used in Mesa Boogie 8AB2A1B Running 6L6's but wired for EL34's. I should build another one I have a faceplate.
By the way this amp is in a Dumble style head cab and is for sale in Nashville area by it's owner because I am building another amp to replace it with 100w instead of 50w. Currently has the large Dumble style knobs on it.

Don't mean to be a pest but thought you might enjoy the photos, this one is a 18w/36w switchable version four EL84's otherwise same as the EL34 version tone board and pot wiring.

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

Re: Zwreck with Normster Reverb?
Any idea why they changed the filtering? I have owned both a newer Mallory 150 z wreck and now own a very early one w orange drops but if didnt realize that other things changed as well.M Fowler wrote:It's the same thing, Zwreck has 220k/220k voltage divider and Rocket doesn't.
