Re: Brown Sound
That wire usually has an aluminium ( okay spellcheck, 'aluminum' ) core. Wouldn't that produce a bright sound, rather than a brown one? Re: Brown Sound
I see a green resistor in all that brown.
That's funny. Might be money in it. Maybe we can get guitar gods to 'process' the caps. "These were pooped by Eddie!" $5G a set.Are those processed by civets?
Re: Brown Sound
Oh crap one slipped by the process.rp wrote:I see a green resistor in all that brown.
Re: Brown Sound
Here is progress report on Brown Sound.
Added 1 orange Mallory to circuit, could not see using a Brown 600volt cap in presence circuit. Save it for another amp.
Orange is kind of like brown just lighter, right?

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.
Re: Brown Sound
Nice job!! I love to see clean builds like this...what is the diference between Mallory TC75 and TC75A? Anybody knows? What brand are your 40uF caps?
Re: Brown Sound
Not sure what the difference is between TC75 and TC75A other than label.redshark wrote:what is the diference between Mallory TC75 and TC75A? Anybody knows? What brand are your 40uF caps?
The others are Mallory also.
Re: Brown Sound
Thanks I guess I was too critical, and after it is in the cabinet only Superman with X-ray vision will see it.JoeCon wrote:Jeff

Re: Brown Sound
Max ESR is higher and ripple current is about two thirds.jeff12 wrote:Not sure what the difference is between TC75 and TC75A other than label.redshark wrote:what is the diference between Mallory TC75 and TC75A? Anybody knows? What brand are your 40uF caps?

Re: Brown Sound
Decided to change the 20uf caps, not that the Mallory's would not work.
I have used the CDE's before, have not used the TC75A's. Did not notice the
A in the part number when I got them. Thanks redshark.

Re: Brown Sound
And that's why Jeff's Express's sound as great as they do.
Attention to detail.
Every time you think "that's close enough" you're screwed.
Just saying what's been said a thousand times before.
It all matters - especially with the Express.
