This is probably some of the most inaccurate drivel I have ever read.
Talk about leaving out the details, I hate political propaganda "news" from either side.

I have an extremely low regard for ALL those dodgy organizations that pretend to be non-profit, while accepting money from hidden donors and spreading their insane propaganda. Now that SCOTUS has approved, big stacks of money could come from anywhere to try and buy US elections. It's absolutely pitiful that SCOTUS allowed this. Communist China, Russian Mafia, Mexican & Central/South American drug cartels, anyone rich enough to throw serious cash around where USA citizens or not - somebody PLEASE tell us why they should be able to make secret politcal donations and that's acceptable.Structo wrote:In light of recent news that the IRS targeted certain groups and businesses, is it really too much of a reach to think it was political?

I don't know everything that is going on but with the recent disclosures about what certain agencies are doing that are illegal, I'm not really surprised by stories coming out of Washington these days.
That is not what the Court said. Read the decision.Leo_Gnardo wrote:I have an extremely low regard for ALL those dodgy organizations that pretend to be non-profit, while accepting money from hidden donors and spreading their insane propaganda. There's also those pallets stacked with freshly printed $100,000 "bank packs" of hundred dollar bills that have been given away in Iraq and Afghanistan to anyone suspected of having "political influence" in a vague attempt to bribe them to not shoot at or blow up their occupiers. Billions and billions of bucks, and no accountability. Think that could come back and bite us on the a55? As if neglect of USA infrastructure & health issues wasn't enough of a self inflicted injury? I'm stopping here. Steam is shooting out my ears.
With respect, Firestorm, these organizations will interpret the decision as allowing them to get away with anything, and they will. To our detriment.Firestorm wrote:That is not what the Court said. Read the decision.
If you know the details you know it isn't about politics, it is about laws that have been in place for many years.Structo wrote:In light of recent news that the IRS targeted certain groups and businesses, is it really too much of a reach to think it was political?
I've always had a suspicion that this had nothing to do with Lacy-act wood. I've wondered if there was something else gibson was doing (tax evasion?), and the government couldn't find enough evidence to put an air-tight case together, so they hit gibson where they could, if for no other reason than to send a clear message that reads: we can make your existance a muserable and unprofitable one.husky wrote:If you know the details you know it isn't about politics, it is about laws that have been in place for many years.Structo wrote:In light of recent news that the IRS targeted certain groups and businesses, is it really too much of a reach to think it was political?
I wonder why no other guitar company has had any issue including Fender?

Because they were conducting a criminal investigation, pursuant to a lawful search warrant, and the police are always armed in this country. There's no "leave the guns locked in the trunk of the cruiser if you're going into a guitar factory" page in the police employee manual.Structo wrote:John, can you tell us what laws were violated and why armed police conducted a raid at their facility.
As opposed to un-armed police????Structo wrote:John, can you tell us what laws were violated and why armed police conducted a raid at their facility.
