Can some of you kind folks take a look at the layout and give me your educated guess,s on what the resistor marked in red would want to be, many thanks

Samson's amps pretty much use 1-2watt carbon comps for everything except the power supply.

Any opinion on the diodes used on the tube and soldo state rectifier?

ya uf4007s although any soft recovery rectifier would do. 1000v 1a should be enough.
