I love the question posted asking Ken Bran if he had a receipt.

Hilarious!!
Next, they'll ask him why the logo looks different than the Marshall on the poison video...

Well, it is Ken in both two last pictures. Amp looks legit. I think he replaced most of the old carbon comp resistors at a later stage with those pretty dark red 5% metal film Beyschlags. Of these I have enough to make some 30 JTM45 resistor sets

VERY Cool!
I wonder if maybe he replaced the entire board at one point. All the old ones I've seen had perf-board.
'Course for that kind of money I'd want Ken to personally deliver it so I could ask him then.

So too much! Ken Bran's friggin' prototipo. I guess if one lives long
enough they really do see it all.
I'd guess it's pretty a remote chance that I'd ever find any of the
metal film Beyschlags in the US.
Funny how Ritchie Blackmore was a respected judge of tone at one
time. He was such a pompous ass in Deep Purple.
Deep Turtle, now there was a band.

Holy smokes, that's the most expensive Bassman I've ever seen! "Designed and engineered"? I won't deny being a rip-off artist myself, but I've never claimed to actually design or engineer - only modify.
I predict that his next auction shall be: the Fender used for reference in the construction of JTM45 #2.
Bring on the hate mail.....my skin is thick.
Damn, times must be really tight. I would have thought that fella would have a short list of folks he would prefer to own such a rare treasure.

It was fun to view the pictures though thanks for posting that.
I have the receipt for that #2 amp right here.

I'm thinking my failing pension fund should start investing in durable goods like this amp......
Better yet, how about creating some fancy financial device that will allow one to bet, er I mean "invest" in the potential future collective value of this stuff!

It has been done. There are at least two specialized funds in the US focusing on vintage gear, mainly guitars but also amps.Better yet, how about creating some fancy financial device that will allow one to bet, er I mean "invest" in the potential future collective value of this stuff!
Re: Marshall prototype No.2 from 1962 on ebay
Huh. I wonder if they keep tabs on newer pieces?

Man, I got a letter the other day from my union saying our pension fund is in a critical state.dynaman wrote:I'm thinking my failing pension fund should start investing in durable goods like this amp......

I'm about 10 years from retiring......
Hopefully the president will start working on the economy before then.
