I bought a pair of shoes from a drug dealer the other day. I dunno what he laced them with but I’ve been tripping all day,

To be fair though, most US sockets that I've come across have been so sloppy that it's amazing a plug can stay in them, let alone make sufficiently good contact to be able to conduct 16A.

I've pulled plenty of plugs which are hot from the I2R heating effect of the poor contact, and that's not going to be good for your sound when your amp is sucking gobs of current.

If it's got some decent contacts it's almost worth it. Well, maybe worth it at 1/10 of the price!

What size conductor is your power cord, and what bias type do you use?

I love the tone of cathode bias, but expect to get buried if the amp is
modeled on a very old circuit with no feedback, etc...
I don't mind, a decent mic and the PA will do the work, but otherwise, it
means that the rest of the band has to show restraint, and play with taste
and dynamics, and actually listen to them selves.

The market is flooded with crap so buy quality recepitcles from a Electrical distributor and you will see the difference in quality from what is sold at Home Depo, Menards, Lowe's, Etc.

When I moved into my house there were tons of leftovers from the former occupant, a retired union electrician. I've got a stash of NOS US made receptacles and switches, and as Mark said, there's a difference between good ones and the new chinese junk! They're not gold plated (lah-dee-da) but it's worth getting quality wherever you can find it.

Hey, maybe I'll put up a listing - "NOS USA made Sierra brand outlets - $50 a pair" - any takers?

I've got a favorite new word thanks to one of their testimonials!

"asinusoidal"

Perfect!

"My express clone started displaying asinusoidal characteristics when I switched out V1".

Makes me sound smart...

Yes but to get the best results with that gold plated outlet you need these.

They cost $485.......each!

The signature knobs will have an even greater effect…really amazing! The point here is the micro vibrations created by the volume pots and knobs find their way into the delicate signal path and cause degradation (Bad vibrations equal bad sound). With the signature knobs micro vibrations from the C37 concept of wood, bronze and the lacquer itself compensate for the volume pots and provide (Good Vibrations) our ear/brain combination like to hear…way better sound!!

Many of the home service centers stock also is made in Mexico and are inferior quality.

Instead of the 59 cent recepticle take a look at the $5. recepticle at least it won't break in your hand as your installing it.

Hmm.....I think well have to put off the surgery, and the house, and car....gotta outfit the amps ;-)

But on a real note, one thing I have long considered was a dedicated ground in my music studio.

I have an older home, so surely the ground is through 200' of junk cable, twist on connectors and whatnot. The place looks like it was was wired by a child, plus the retrofits.

I have discussed the idea of sinking a copper rod outside the studio, putting in 1/4" jacks in he walls, along with alligator clips, and then having a direct ground on the equipment.

Any takers? Anyone have any idea if there would be benefit in this?

Again with the "cryogenic" buzzword.

Gotta love the "enhanced bass" testimonial too. Yeah, if you can't hear it, you must have lead ears and a substandard system.

Excuse me, I need to silence the alarm on my B.S. meter...
