Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
I saw this on the Les Paul forums and thought it a bit strange...

This guy also had a post back in April selling "Lisa", a Komet 80 done by KF
http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/member- ... signs.html
Anyone familiar with him?

"john mark" use to work for rca back in the day
anything worth doing, is worth doing right
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
That was a person named Peach wanting to have a Liverpool built.
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
I got an answer to my PM
"Hi,
these Rockets will be selling for $10,000. There is 1 that was started by Ken. All 4 sound amazing, and you'd be more than welcome to play Ken's personal Rocket against any of these 4. Cloner can't do that.
hope to hear from you,"

I take it there is no website yet?
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
Trainwreck.com doesn't seem to have anything about it. It's actually not a bad idea.....I would have tried to go with a more known company like Fuchs for the builds though. A company with a good rep and some distribution but hey! It would be a shame to let the legacy die! How about a DLM? That would sell like gangbusters!
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
What a joke, $10,000 and they are not built by Ken. Ken stated in his own words that he couldn't teach anyone how to build his amps. Now were are to believe that somone else can step into his shoes and build an amp worth $10,000 that sounds just like Ken's amps but that the rest of us "cloners" can't . That is a huge line of BS in my book.
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
I think that post is BS Dana! I mean think about it. Wouldn't it make more sense if the family wanted to do that to use Komet? If you want to get that kind of money you would need some pedigree and Komet has WAY more of it than this guy. It has to be BS.
Or maybe this guy just knew the family and they wanted to clean out the basement and he found a whole bunch of leftover parts. I don't believe the family is behind this!

Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
hahaha.. someone in Jersey, get the info to where you can go and play the amp, against Kens amp..
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
I remember the name, as Ken had mentioned him several times. It could be that he even did some soldering etc down at Ken's. But the family would have to approve of him doing the amps again. I know there may have been an unfinished Rocket at Ken's for quite a while. I haven't heard who may have obtained Ken's inventory including unfinished amps. Mark mat know the building process tho, but I have reservations about how this new production is being presented..
Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
Well he's starting with one of the easiest and most stable of the TW line-up to build. But $10,000, not out my pocket. I like my Rocket just fine and to my aging ears it sound great.
We will find out more about this in time I am sure. Makes me want to join that Les Paul Forum to gleen more background information and business operations.

Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
I keep reading threads like this with raised eyebrows.......since I've never heard and probably never will hear an original Wreck or Dumble live.
OTOH - as far as I can see, the Rocket in particular is very similar to a no-frills AC30 TopBoost. Having spent all my adult years in EE, I find it hard to believe in component mojo and magical wire. Craftmanship I can understand, though, and there seems to be some mojo in wiring, especially for the Express and Liverpool. But from there to stating that it's impossible to clone something as well documented as these amps, I find hard to believe. I can however understand the psycoacoustic effect of having "the Real McCoy"......
To my totally untrained "guitar ear" this seems like a rip-off, or am I totally out of line here ?
EDIT : Also, as there are already several very competent builders in this thread....

Re: Post on Les Paul forums Re: New Rockets built on KF's bench
Why would someone who is wanting to let the world know that Trainwreck is being resurected and producing amps again decide to make the special anouncement on the LP forum when you have your own webpage? This just smells of BS to me
