Hello all,
I'm in the begining of the planning stages for my first D build. I'm going to go with the Hybrid A, a it seems to be what everyone suggests, and it's a bit simpler than some of the others. I'd rather do it all from scratch than modify an older piece. So the first step (other than mapping a layout to follow, since schematics take me a bit longer to read) is picking out all of the components.... I can order the TF120 and TF125 transformers easily enough through Magic Parts, but I was wondering if it would be worth it to go with some Mercury Super Reverb trannies instead. Are they worth the extra $ or would I be better off saving my cash? Also, what would you use for the choke? The schematics don't seem to have any specs on them. I just want to make sure I take my time and do things right (with both components and build) the first time. I thank you all very much in advance for your advice and patience with the noob.

Remember to check these parts for the corrections as Hybrid A, in its traditional form, has a bunch of items that are either wrong or need tweaking. Check Normsters layout for some of what I speak of....

Re: Hybrid A Transformers
I don't know those xformers but I've had good success with Mojotone Fender replacements.
Re: Hybrid A Transformers
I use Magic parts transformers, I don't remember the numbers but they are Fender type drop in replacements. They seem to work great for me, similar to the originals I presume. Choke is the Twin or Super Rev replacement.I can order the TF120 and TF125 transformers easily enough through Magic Parts, but I was wondering if it would be worth it to go with some Mercury Super Reverb trannies instead.
