Organ Transplant

Post by Buschman »

There is a piano co. that has been throwing out a bunch of organs. Needles to say I am not above dumpster diving. I have pulled a very nice chassis which was running a bunch of el84s. Trannies look Matchless or ac30 size. I don't know voltages yet.

Would you build a Rocket-which I have not built yet or heard or would you build more of a dc30. I really like the ef86 preamp. Is there a single channel version of an ef86 amp into a quarter of el84S? I have a Liverpool and an Express already.

Spitfire perhaps?

I made one out a Gulbransen organ chassis, used the original iron.
Sounds great.

What brand organs were they?

That seems like a treasure trove.

I got a pair of RCA blackplate 6L6's from a Baldwin.

And a pair of Sylvania silver topped 6V6's from a Hammond.

And a bunch of Sylvania and Raytheon preamp tubes.

Don't let that smoke out!

Well I checked out the Stangray. Man I like it. Anybody got the internal scoop on it?

WOW, ask and ye shall receive. You think its more fun than a Rocket? I like the very thick textures on Dr. Z's clips. I've had an AC30 and sold it.

I like my Rocket, Liverpool and the Stangray they all have such chime to them running through celestian blues.
