Eminence Private Jack 12"
I tried search...no results. Has anyone tried using the 12" Eminence Private Jack speakers? Specifically in any of the Trainwreck style amps? These are supposed to be "British" sounding speakers although I do not know which one this is supposed to be similar to. Thanks
Re: Eminence Private Jack 12"
I have a pair of Private Jacks in a Marshall 1936 cab. The guy I bought them from told me that they are supposed to be like the Greenbacks - I think they do sound similar. But they handle 50 watts each rather than 25 watts each. I use them with my Rocket most of the time, and I use them with my Express when I am not using my 4x12.

Re: Eminence Private Jack 12"
I have one in a closed-back 1x12 that's my shop cabinet. Everything I work on gets tested through it. Once it got really broken in, I find it a very flexible speaker. I've played my Expressish through it many times. Love it. I had it in an open-back cab that I used with an EL84 amp - worked well there too. In general, I liked it better with a closed-back cab for EL34s and 6L6s, and open-back cabs for EL84s.
I like Eminence speakers a lot for applications where I'm not particularly worried about that extra 5% that I get from real vintage Celestions or Scumbacks. I also use the Eminence GB12s and the Red Fangs.

Thanks guys. How do the Red Fangs sound to you? I was planning to get one of those next.

Private Jack
I used to love my Eninence Governor in a single 12 cab
My liverpool sounds great through it.
However, later I built a 1x12 cab (semi-open back off the core cab design on ax84.com) and put a Private Jack in it.
I am very satisfied. Could partially be the better dimensioned cab but that speaker came to life once broken in.
Very "open" and pushed, it makes the Liverpool and Rocket sing
I cant say how it sounds in comparison to a greenback but it has nothing spikey or harsh to it

I like them a lot... in the right application. I originally bought them (2) hoping to use them as substitutes for the original Alnico Blues in my '63 AC30. No matter how well-broken-in they are, they don't sound like Blues... but they aren't advertised to be 'Blue Substitutes'. I have one Red Fang and one GB12 in my BF Bassman combo. The Red Fang sounds GREAT when pushed hard by 6L6s in an open-back cab.mcrracer wrote:Thanks guys. How do the Red Fangs sound to you? I was planning to get one of those next.

Since we're talking about emi speakers, I've developed a love for the RW&B.
I have settled on it and a weber 1265 in my pro reverb and love it.
Emi has really outdone themselves with the new speakers IMHO.

If anyone needs a couple of Private Jacks I have two available. I had a half stack with two G12s and two Private Jacks that I converted to four Eminence Delta Pro 12A so I can better evaluate the amplifier itself. Nothing against either speaker, I just had a need for speaker neutrality to evaluate my designs better.

The Private Jack and Wizard (gb & g12H copies that take more power) work very well together for British flavored amps. Grady from Cross Canadian Ragweed uses that combo in his rig which is a heavily modded voxesque' platform.
