Confused Noob
Hello all, this is my fist post as I've just discovered this site, and I love what I see. I've been building projects for a little while now, and I've been dreaming of a Dumble. I've been checking out as many layouts and schematics as I can find, and most of them seem like I could handle the build (though to be honest a good layout would be a must for me). The only problem is that I am really confused as to what dumble would be best for me. I just want something simple with the classic dumble drive and a somewhat modest power section (I can't see myself ever needing more than 50 watts for anything, though 50 would be fine) I would love to have as many tone shaping options as possible (thats what we're all here for) but I don't really need multiple channels, reverb or an effects loop. Is there something out there like this? I usually like to start from scratch instead of re-building something else.....To confuse matters a bit, I am ordering a batch of transformers from MM really soon, and I'd like to get the pieces for this project at the same time (unless of course you would go a diferent route) . You guys are the experts, so what would you do? Thanks in advance for all of your help.
Re: Confused Noob
That's a common question. Most folks feel that the Hybrid-A is the best place to start. I started with the 97 and found that I moved back to the Hybrid type amp.
Re: Confused Noob
same with me,
I built the 97 (I guess that's the one with the HRM post OD EQ) and played it for years, recently discovered I prefer the non HRM. Which is a bit less complex.
"Simple" to me is basically a Bassman head type amp with overdrive possibilities. So I would think in terms of that when searching for transformers.
