transformer connections?

Post by arfy »

I've got just about all the parts so it's time to get to work, but I want to confirm the transformer connections for a standard Express copy:
6600 for the output primary connections? (Heyboer transformers from Toneslut)
300V or 260V wires from the power tranny secondary to supply the B+?

On the Express you need to use the 300v winding and you can go either way on the OT. Some people prefer the 6600 and some the 5200. try them both and let us know your opinion. Oh yea and no matter which way you go on the OT just remember to leave enough wire to switch the Primary leads around on the tube sockets. You got a 50/50 chance of getting it right. If you get them wrong and have the NFB hooked up you'll get a loud squeal. Just switch them around and it will be fine.

I went with the 5200. Richie tried both on his build and went with the 5200 also. But having said that I have also heard people swear by the 6600 winding so I keep telling people to try both and see which one they like and then let the rest of us know. It would be interesting to do a poll on the pri imp people are using.

Dana, what was the difference between 5200 and 6600 that led you to use 5200? Or was it really noticeable? Phil
