Marshal input jack

Post by Andy Le Blanc »

I have a jcm 800 2210 on the bench that's come to me after another replaced
the input jack. Now the footswitch is quirky, without it the output is low and
with it, only the clean channel can be made function. The switching circuit is
tied to the input jack. What is the appropriate jack type? Anybody have a
gut shot or a BOM?

Some info that might help with diagnostics:

I'm guessing this will have the PCB mount variant of the standard Cliff S2 or S4 jacks.

See http://www.cliffuk.co.uk/ for details.

Thanks for the response, Its beginning to look one of those repairs where the
the last guy didn't resolve the real issue, and then BS'd the owner out of a
bench fee and parts. I get the amp and have to sort out whats really going on.
Its a S2 CL 1169, and wasn't touched, I can tell by the crust under the knobs.
He did monkey with output jacks, looks like he replaced them with a pcb mount
jack and made a mess of the dress, but the power side is good. Cheap bastard.
It was all original and un-modded. This is the forth or fifth amp I've gotten
after the fact, and had to pick up the mess. Its looking like the switching is at fault,
I'll have to figure a way to double check, it might be IC.

WOW, completely mis-informed  , Me, the store owner who I pick up repairs from,
the amps owner who has to pay twice for what turns out to be a couple 12AX7.
The tubes in the pre were replaced at some point with what looks to
be old bench spares, which were so far gone that the amp was acting like a terminal
case. This is what that guy does, and he's fender authorized, holy cow......
