Hey guys...I have just found my way to this thread today and I have got to say it was a cool learning experience. The split plate load theory as a fixed MV is something you don't learn everyday! Thanks Paul Ruby!

FYI, I just noticed a minor mistake in the circuit. It you want 1/4th voltage gain, the resistors should be reversed. The "closer" you get to the plate (with closer being lower resistance), the higher the output. The closer to B+, the lower the output. The above is 3/4 gain... Or more explicitly related to the resistor values: 75k/(75k+25k).

And, by the way, split load isn't my original idea. It's been used all over the place before...

Yeah we know.....but you explained it in a way a lay person like myself can use it as an amp tuning tool.

Finished the cab, couldn't get any good wood locally so I used some left over floor boards from our recent wood floor project and stuck em together. The wood is Tasmaninan Oak (which is no relation to the oak at all apart from being a tree) three types of eucalypt.

Did you notice any sound difference between the old organ parts and the mallories?

Yes I did, I'm not very good at describing sound but the old caps seemed more warm and the breakup more even, I have the amp just as I like it so I am going to leave it alone now.
