!5" speaker recommendations.
I'm restoring a Gemini II amp; cap job, new OT and I'm building a cabinet for it as well. I read that Ampeg used Jensen 15", but, the holy grail offered as an upgrade was the JBL D130F 15".
For those of you who have experience using 15" guitar speakers, what's your favorite 15" (not 12" ... FIFTEEN).
Also, what are it's tonal characteristics, would you buy it again and what style music do you play?
Thanks.

Kregg,
I hate to bring this up, ouch, but I am quite sure Ted Weber has the replacement for that JBL D130F 15.
I haven't used 15" speakers for years since my guitar into a SVT or a Standel stack days. Oh yeah 2003 I sold my Plush 100 tube amp with 3-15 inch cab in baby blue metal flake.
I'm sure some one has an answer for you.

Thanks Mark. I've seen a few JBL's on ebay, but, I most have already been reconed. I'll check on the Weber's.

Kregg I don't shop at Webers but he has a speaker forum he does on Z-talk forum "ask Ted" and I am sure they discussed that speaker there.

I really like the Eminence Legend 15", especially for a smaller amp that needs some extra oomph. It's very loud and clean - 103db efficiency and rated for 180W, if I remember correctly.
Re: !5" speaker recommendations.
The Weber Chicago 15 and the Weber neo mag take on the JBL are both very nice.

Ditto. Great speaker!tweedeluxe wrote:I really like the Eminence Legend 15", especially for a smaller amp that needs some extra oomph. It's very loud and clean - 103db efficiency and rated for 180W, if I remember correctly.
I use one with a tweed Princeton clone, and it's a great match.
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I bought a Cali 15, hunting for the legendary texas blues tone.M Fowler wrote:but I am quite sure Ted Weber has the replacement for that JBL D130F 15.
At the start i was quite happy with it, but a/b compared with other cabs
i would just rate it average. If i'd try another 15", i'd go legend
Re: !5" speaker recommendations.
I have to go with the Legend boys...
Great speaker and made on the continent by a company that know speakers.

I just might pick up the Legend. If any of you know the cats at Eminence ... tell them that their audio clips suck.

My Favorite 15" Speaker
Hello!
My favorite one is a 15" Jensen Neo. I put one in my custom built bassman combo. (I made it with a guitar channel and a bass channel). The highs are nice and crisp, and the bass response is smooth too. I play mainly light rock style music, and I also take it to church too. The neo speakers are about half the weight of the ceramic magnet speakers, and they are very efficient. I think about 100 db spl at 1 meter. They are not cheap, but neither is a JBL!

Yeah no kidding! You'd think that these companies would want to show off their best aspects...Kregg wrote:I just might pick up the Legend. If any of you know the cats at Eminence ... tell them that their audio clips suck.

Imagine the suits planning the recording session, "Doesn't Ron over in shipping have son who plays guitar?"echuta13 wrote:Yeah no kidding!
