Parts for New ODS Build

Post by Rogeramps »

Hi Guys,
I a new member to this great community and would like to start by congratulating you'll on the factastic job all you great builders are duing here. This being my first build ever, I need some help in sourcing a few parts for my Dumble 80's Style Chassis which I purchase from Natchanis, the parts are:
50W/100W Slide Switch.
Red Pilot Light.
Overdrive & Preamp Boost Slide Switches.
Foot Pedal Male & Female XLR 5 Pin Round Connector.
Chassis screws & special nuts (not sure what they're called)

I'm from Lisbon, Portugal and most of these parts, if not all, are not availeble here, I'll probibly need some more help with other parts as I go along, but for now these are what I'm looking for, if there's anyone who could help me, I'll be very greatfull.

Cheers all,
Rogeramps

Rogeramps,

Welcome to the amp garage. :D

Most of the answers to any question you may ever want to know the answer to (amp wise!) can probably be found in the discussion files. The search function is a great feature.

In my experience I've found that Mouser is a great 'one stop shop' for most of the parts you will need for a D'clone build. Their customer service is good, shipping is fast (3 days) and only $25 to europe and they have huge stocks.
I have ordered stuff from most of the european suppliers but have found that my Mouser orders have always arrived faster. My orders from european suppliers are often held up, awaiting delivery of their own stocks, often from Mouser to begin with.

Getting to know your way around the Mouser site can be really useful.
Check out this .pdf file. It may be useful  .

Hope this helps.

Cheers and good luck,

Paul.

Did that switch match the mounting holes on the Malaysian chassis? The old Fender amp switches don't.

I may have had to file the holes a little, but just a little. Nothing visible after mounting the switch.

Parts for New ODS Build

First off, I’d like to thank you guys for your great response (Guitarman18 and ic-racer) it sure has helped a lot, I have most of the parts now, however, I have a problem with Radioshack, they don’t ship to Portugal, only in the USA, so back to the drawing board for me.

Any suggestions ?

By the way, where are you guys situated ?

Roger

If it is the relay power tranny that traditionally comes from Radioshack, you have three options:

1, Order a PT from someone like Heyboer with 2x 6.3volt tap. (Instead of 5v rectifier tap)

2, Use a regular Twin PT (assuming 100W) and use the rectifier tap for the relay power supply.

3, Get a European equivilant such as the N93CC which I have used a few times without any issues. It's 6v, which I FWR, and regulate to 5V, for use with NTE 5v relays.

Here is a picture of one inside my latest build that I finished last night.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Paul.

If the red LED in the chrome housing is all that you want from Radio Shack, it looks like you can get the same thing from Hoffman: http://www.hoffmanamps.com/MyStore/perlshop.cgi - click on lamps/diodes/switching; it's the first thing on the page. He ships overseas, and is usually very fast. He also stocks a slide switch that *might* be the same as the one ic-racer mentioned from tubesandmore.com.

Mouser has a chrome LED bezel / holder (part 351-1001) that fits a standard size LED.

Oops, I missed that. Apologies for going off on one in the wrong direction in my previous response.

Check out the Mouser part Pete mentioned.

Another popular choice mentioned on this forum is one of the Lumex units.
