Speaker ID

Post by Markusv »

Hi folks

I hope someone may be able to help
I have an old Alnico 10 inch speaker from a Hammond chord organ

The identification numbers stamped on the basket are as follows:
AO 26689 2SH 3
P10R- C5942-2
220751

Anyone know what this is? (Probably Jensesn?)
Also, the wattage please

Thanks,
Markus V

I don't know much but the P10R certainly sounds like a Jensen.

Thanks!

Physically, it looks like the jenssen, but has a silver frame with no real branding

They were probably made specifically for Hammond organs.

"220751" is the production code:
"220" is Jensen
"7" is the year....I'd guess 1957
"51" is the week....Christmas 1957
Nice find if it works...
Hope this helps.

Thanks D

Do you know ( or can you take a guess at) wattage?
The new Jensens are rated at 25 watt

BTW it works beautifully
I have used it in a 6 watt single ended amp and the touch response and balance is great. It has a very mellow break-up too. Suppose that's what you get with a 40+ year old speaker

R is 25W, Q is [35]W. There should be a sticker which reads Jensen Loudspeaker Special Design with both watt and ohm ratings.

Thanks Kregg

I thought I heard 25 watts somewhere before
No sticker though and I do not belive it ever had one. Came totally naked out of the organ.
The more I compare the basket and the grooves on the cone to pictures of the current Jensens, the more I'm convinced though.....

The reissues may be 25w, but the originals are more like 12-15w. Anyway, they are very sought after because the P10R is the classic tweed Bassman speaker.

Thanks!

So I was considering it for a 2x10 Rocket with KT66's (paired with a higher power ceramic)
Now, (at only 15 watt) I think it may get damaged, as the KT66's put out a healthy amount of power

Opinions?
