'65 BF Deluxe amp motorboating w/Vibrato onl any ideas?

Post by mike9 »

I have a very clean '65 BF Deluxe Amp. Sounds very good, but motorboats in the vibrato channel - gets faster when you turn up the speed. Any ideas what I should check to run this problem down? any way of turning this channel into reverb?

Check for loose or broken caps near the photocell.

Motor boating or just ticking?
For ticking: http://www.timeelect.com/jbl-twin.htm see the second picture and description below it.
For motor boating, look for cold/cracked solder or bad filter cap. When was the last cap job on this amp? Maybe it's just overdue.
