Not my experience. I've got several of the dumblesque style pedals in my arsenal and I've never noted anything extraordinarily noisy about the ZenDrive. It's quieter than some other I have. There's nothing in it's design that should contribute to unusual noisiness either. Perhaps you got a dud?butwhatif wrote:Zendrive--noisiest pedal ever? it's significantly noisier than 7 other boost pedals i own, it works in certain situations, but?

Two brand new ones, even my boss ds1 is quieter, and sounds better
Re: The Zendrive thing?
My Zendrive and other pedals are all quiet no noise. Even the booster pedal I built is not noisey.
I did have problems with noise prior getting my boss pedal board, using short good cables and good power supply. This was before the Zen and some of my Boss pedals. The TS-9 is bad, MXR Dist + ok but not the best.

Re: The Zendrive thing?
Absolutely no noise problems with the Zendrive over here...

Re: The Zendrive thing?
Really !! at normal mid loud stage volume there is no difference between in, and bypass? I hear noise out of every pedal I have, some way less, some way more at normal playing volume. Same in the studio. How do you not hear any?
Re: The Zendrive thing?
butwhatif,
I hear what your talking about and believe me I had noise problems but it was my Fender amp, my old cords, and power supply.
I now use my super quiet Dr Z Stangray for gigs, with Boss pedal board, Boss pedals and good cords. I'm talking about plain cords from the quitar store not high priced George-L or others. The Zendrive overdrive does not introduce any noise at all.
I would try to isolate your noise source starting with one pedal at a time and adding a pedal until you find the one that is causing your headache. I bet it is not the Zen.

Re: The Zendrive thing?
Thanks for the tip, but these aren't my first set of cords. I own a sound company, and studio, and must own 500 cables, and 60 amps.
My pedal rig is fine until the ZD plugs in, and doubles the noise figure.

If anyone is interested, my buddy Karl has a cool set of videos comparing the Zendrive, Zendrive 2, and Mosferatu

Re: The Zendrive thing?
Butwhatif,
You are experienced in theses matters I see, so do you think that the Zendrive is out of phase to the other pedals? I have not experienced this out of phase symptoms but see that many people have built a phase switcher to correct such a problem. Or maybe that particular Zen is screwed up. Ask ALf if you can exchange it. He frequents these pages from time to time.
