looking for ideas on my new build

Post by Chris G »

Hi Guy's,
I am starting to layout a chassis for a new build. It will based on(normster's bassman/w reverb build) I was thinking of useing 2 6sl7's for the pre-amp,12ax7 for the reverb,12ax7 for the phase inverter.

I have a 17x10x2 chassis,50 watt power and output(heybour's).El34's

It will have a nfb loop on the pre-amp.......pre in pow out NO LOOP!!! no HRM.

any ideas or suggestions for this new project? also has anyone used the modded bassman layout? :D

Thanks
Chris G

Good luck with your build! I am getting ready to build a clone based on Norms schematic and layout as well. In case you missed this thread...check out the lastest layout that Norm posted here https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=832

The only advice I can give is to read as many posts as possible and make notes on your schematic and layout of ideas/tweaks discussed and how the tweaks effect the sound. So if you do need to tweak you will have some ideas to try.

Hi Keithrick,
Thanks for the reply,I have the latest layout. I have a few ods type builds under my belt, but none with reverb. I was hopeing maybe someone had tried the 6sl7's in the pre-amp..........I got the idea from an amp That Steve Kimock owns, it's a two-rock custom with all octal tubes in the pre amp. I'm on the fence alittle though......maybe just one for the clean and 9 pins for the rest?

Speaking of help here, I recived some great advisce from Dogears!!!!!!! for my previous build....all his suggested changes were right on the money for the tones I'm after!!!!

I think this amp will be a combo as well,I don't own one and it might be nice to have something alittle more portable as well,Anybody runing a single 12?if so............whada ya got!!!! :D

Thanks Keithrick!!
Chris
