I dig that combo brake / shear / roll former... I was looking at their brakes myself awhile back and for a couple hundred more this does it all!

Have you established pricing on the tranny set (I didn't see that if you have posted it...)??

Here is a pic of the trannys. I have also included one of the Heyboer next to the Hammond to give you an idea of the difference in size, especially the stack thickness.
I call this board in this amp my aquarium. It is going to be full of tropical fish when it's finished.

I think I have most of the hard parts are finished now that the chassis and the trannys are designed and produced. I just have to order the next round of PCBs and get the components for the kits ordered. They should all be ready to go about the first of March. You can also look for our new Hall Amplification webpage coming soon (you heard it here first!!) to make it a little easier to find us. Also a big thanks to John ( kineteks) , Gary and Ron and the rest of you guys for all of the help. I do really appreciate everyones help and input.

Just wanted to say this is a very cool idea! I bet once you get your website up and running you will be very busy with it. Folks like building these days and kits are really taking off with the Metroamps and others. The PC board on this project makes it so much easier for a 1st timer or experienced builder even. Heck, it's probably easier and quicker to build then a Fender Champ. Also you don't have to deal with all the complications of making a full on TW clone. The clips sounded great by the way!

I guess we will see how it goes. It only takes a few hours to assemble one if you have built a couple. It's almost as easy as assembling a pedal and would make a nice first amp project. Whats really cool too is that you can mod it in a way. Like using all tropical fish caps. They have great tone, are used in some expensive pedals. They are also made (by Mullard ) of polyester film just like the orange drops. Because the voltages on this amp are below 200v the 250v fishies work great. I can't wait to hear this one.

One of the things that gets me about some of the low power designs out there (less than 5 watts) are most use a preamp triodes for output tubes or they run the big boys at lower voltages. There aren't many that have full tone stacks, presence controls or three gain stages either. Most are single ended designs or pushpull triodes with cathode bias. A lot of the low wattage combos use small speakers. (This sounds great through my 4 x 12 with greenbacks) The combo I am working on is a 1 x 12. Granted it's not a "Pants leg shakin" full blown Express but it is a fun amp to play, has a lot of Express like qualities and puts a smile on the face of everyone who has tried it.

Sounds very cool. I have a good cabinet for such an animal. I made this out of a cut down Gallien Krueger combo bass amp. It's totally sealed and only 13x13.5x7.5 and about 16 lbs. It has a 65 watt M75 Scumback 12" in it, and the 100% aluminum box is barely big enough for the speaker. It's very inefficient since it's so small and sealed, but it sounds quite decent miked up though in a band situation you need to monitor it back. I have a trick where I run the deep lows of my Express direct through a low pass filter and a DI, and then mix that with this cab miked for mids and highs and it rocks. I bet the micro amp AND this cab would both fit in a suitcase and be under the 50lb checked baggage limit. Currently I sometimes do fly dates with this cab, and a modded Orange Tiny Terror that both fit in my suitcase together. Basically I turned my Tiny Terror into an 18 watt lite with all Sozo caps and an bigger 18 watt style OT. Sorry to get off the subject. Still a complete Express like rig in a suitcase sounds like overseas gigs to me!

That is pretty cool. The head cab I built is 13.5 inches wide, 6 inches tall and 6 inches deep. If you go with 1/2 inch thick material you can cut the width down to 13 inches. I used pine 1 x 8 for the head and pine 1 x 12 for the combo. The combo I am working on is open back though. The chassis is 12 inches long, x 5 inches wide x 1.5 inches deep. The faceplates I ordered are 12 x 1.75. The extra 1/4 inch on top gives the apperance of the knobs being centered on the front panel from top to bottom. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and there is just as much work involved in designing one of these little amps as there is a big one. I will guarantee that it is way below 50 lbs. If I had to make a guess the amp by it self (just the chassis without the cab) would weigh about 5 lbs. The trannys are only about 3 lbs The head is probably less than 10 lbs. I'll weigh it when I get home this evening
