Are these transfomers good candidates for an Asteroid build?

Are these transfomers good candidates for an Asteroid build?

Post by rtc »

Hello,
I have two transfomers lying around from another project, and i am planning using them building an asteroid amps, along with some surplus components I have:

-Sprague Atoms, Alpha pots, Xicon carbon film 1W resistors,Mallory 150's (everything correct value).

The PT specs are:
-350-0-60-350 (280 mA)
-3,15-0-3,15 (8A)
-0-5V (4A)
High quality with M4 laminations (as seen in some Magnequest transformers); the fact is that it never gets warm, even after one hour of playing.

The OT specs are:

Heyboer JTM-45 Hot Rod (M6 laminations):
RS spares replica with 8K, 6K6 and UL taps, 4-8-and 16 ohm secondaries that I bought from Germino Amplification.

As I'd like to try 6L6GC and KT66's, I think the ratings of the OT are OK for this building.
Do you have any comments/suggestions?
Best regards.

Yes, in fact I got the total price from Heyboer including shipping. As the transformer set is very heavy, shipping costs to Europe are quite high, that's the reason why I was thinking of using this two transformers I have available.
Thanks.
