You respond well to the cattle prod, RJ. Nice work.RJ Guitars wrote:You've caught me in some fundamental neglect... Zippy has been telling me to get some voltages for a few weeks now before I worry about any further tweaks on this amp.

Are you hearing any difference? Those changes are pretty subtle.RJ Guitars wrote:264 ohms gives 109mA / 2 = ~55 mA per tube
235 ohms gives 115mA / 2 = ~57mA per tube
Looks like a 200 Ohm resistor will give me about 60mA per tube... how much is too much of a good thing?

Excellent info!!stevek66 wrote:Hey RJ,
This one works pretty good as well.

I guess you are talking about the cathode resistor (R5?) bypass cap? Try to precharge the bypass cap with a series resistor to the cathode. I guess that's what you mean by bleed resistor. Your switch will short it out. Anything over 150k would be more than ten times the value of the cathode resistance, getting close to negligible effect.RJ Guitars wrote:... works great but makes a pop when I go to boost. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Maybe a 10 meg bleed resistor?
I should have it done by this weekend.

Andrew - here is where I go for that kind of info - http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/show.php?des=KT66andrew wrote:What are the milliamp requirments on KT-66s? Thanks.
I'm really digging it so far. I have a bit of a hum problem when I get close to the input. I ran a regular lead, and haven't tried shielded yet, but it grooves pretty good! I have a set of old Mullard XF2's in the output right now, but I'm getting ready to order some KT66's. I also need to get some new pre's to try in it. All in all I'm really happy with this build.

Any recommendations on what tubes to feed this beast?
