Larry Carlton's Dumble-made cab. Anyone know about it?

Post by buzzer »

Hi,

I saw a video in which Larry Carlton's equipment tech said it's the best cab he ever heard. That video can be seen here:

http://www.mr335.tv/?channel=rig&videof ... lification

It's a 1 x 12 with an ElectoVoice EVM12L in it. The only thing he really said regarding its construction is that Dumble tuned some conical baffles for it.

Anyone know anything about this cab. I'm interested in building something like it if I can get more information, otherwise I'm going to build an old cab that EV released the plans to after they stopped making it, called a TL606.

Does anyone have more information about it?

Thanks,

Buzzer

Was the cab in there for a problem or was it tagging along with a head?

Guys, just out of curiosity, what would I hear out of a 1x12 like Larry's vs. a 2x12 1265 cab? I need another cab because my 2x12 is set up for my Vox and haven't decided on format yet.

I have a hermida 1x12 closed back, dual ported, evm 12L loaded, cab that
is very impressive. great bottom, loud or soft, recording or live, and hard to beat a 12L imo.

Anybody tried the Boogafunk "wide" cab based on that old TL606 (I think that's the number) which is a bit wider so the head will fit.

19 3/8Wx14.5Hx13.5D getting the extra width by just adding wood to sides ... looks like.

Hmmm, just checked them out.

Interesting.

Look like they are priced pretty reasonable for what they are.

I have the standard sized Boogafunk with an Emi Delta pro 12A. I don't care much that the head is larger, I'm more concerned about fitting it in the car with other stuff. It sounds great and is solid as a rock. The finish, whatever they use, is great. No torn tolex and it comes clean from beer spills easily.

How does Alf's cab sound? I was interested in a 2x12 ported cab. They seem like a bargain

Scottie (boogafunk), also lives here in Huntsville, and have played through his cabs. I agree w/ you Bob, and like the smaller TL806 cabs as well. Scottie uses an industrial truck bedliner coating to give them a hard / drop-proof finish. He's a great guy and his prices are reasonable. Haven't tried one of Alf's cabs but they do look great.

I can attest that the Hermida cabs sounded glorious last year at the NY/NJ ampshow. And Brandon's amps weren't shabby either! :D
