Just like in the old days when they put a knob on each control.

so you want to buy from a compant thats stealing amp ideas
they are making copies of peavey , modell 5150 , and sell them as their own
Re: New Bugera Amps
Haven't really heard of a comparison of them to the 5150's.
The 333XL has been out in the publics hands for about six months now.
It seems that they have been very reliable so far.
I have talked to two guys that own the 333XL heads and they are still liking them.
Other than Carvin is there any other mass produced amps that aren't made int Asia or China?

Re: New Bugera Amps
The 333xl is a Peavey JSX knockoff - just look at the control layout side by side.
Likewise their 6262 is a 5150 clone.
That said, I'm real close to pulling the trigger on a 333xl. Guitar Player TV had a clip that showed the guts, and tho it's a PCB amp, it aint junk by a long stretch...

Re: New Bugera Amps
Bugera aren't so stupid as to copy anyone's existing design and get them selves into expensive legal trouble. Couple of mods here and there and its their own design. Pretty much every amp manufacturer is doing it. Just because a name is somewhat similar does not mean its circuitry is the same.
That's just free trade for you. Or is free trade only good when developing countries are exploited to produce low value components, raw materials etc, not more valuable end products?
To survive the competition we need to produce higher tech stuff and make new innovations, not whine about cheap foreign competition and call for protectionist legislation so we can make the same old crap we did yesterday.

Re: New Bugera Amps
Doesnt really matter, you can not patent standard guitar amp designs unless it is something that has NEVER been done before. Copying a look or a name and they could get into a trademark issue, like Jazz/Rock if Dumble pushed he could claim as a common law trademark.j-po wrote:Bugera aren't so stupid as to copy anyone's existing design and get them selves into expensive legal trouble. .
I thought they had a large factory in Italy?
Re: New Bugera Amps
Bugera is the new amp brand from the folks at Behringer, a German company whose products are made in China. Behringer's quality is a bit spotty, so time will tell on these amps.

Re: New Bugera Amps
Yes that has been a turn off for some people the fact that it is made by Behringer, but at least the two guys I know and talk to both say they love the amp.
One guy plays in a cover tune band and he claims he can go from country clean to Motley Crue with his amp.
I haven't personally heard one yet but, it sounds like a great amp for someone on a tight budget.
In fact I just asked the first friend of mine after he has had it a few months if, after the honeymoon, he still likes it and he said infactically yes.

Re: New Bugera Amps
I had a 333 which is a Peavey XXX copy. Sounded identical to me and everything worked as it should have. The pots were cheap and wiggled in the chasiss and it had plastic knobs and trim, but it sounded very good. I'd be afraid of bumping the pots and breaking them off if I took the amp outta the house though.
