Who sells Mallory caps at a good price?

Post by Mark »

This pretty much the question, please forgive me for being a bit lazy. I don't have time at the moment to trawl through various sites.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hey Mark - which Mallory caps are you looking for? 150's? TC electrolytics? I get both from Mouser but have also ordered them from Hoffman. I found that Mouser is cheaper but they they sometimes are out of stock for certain values and it takes a while until they restock.

Dear Omar

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm after the TC power supply caps and the Orange Drop looking Mallory caps. The Mallory 150's are good caps too, and thankfully easily available.

I'll have to have another look at Mouser, but i had the feel that they didn't have any 80uF @ 450VDC caps. I do remember someone mentioning CDE, but I don't really have time at the moment to compare prices.

Again thanks for your help Omar.
Yours Sincerely

Mark,
Ok. Sorry I don't have a source for the Orange Drop Mallory's.

I checked Mouser and I could not find 80uF/450V. They do have 100uF/450V for $15.54/piece

Another source for caps is Antique Electronic Supply: http://www.tubesandmore.com/

I can't comment on how cheap they are, particularly when considering Mallory or other expensive components, but at least they may have what you need. For the 80uF they do have a multi section or two:

ex: CAPACITOR, ELECTROLYTIC, 80/40/30/20 µF @ 525 VDC

Made in the USA, to Mallory's original specs, on Mallorys original machinery. 80 µF, 40 µf, 30 µF and 20 µF section, all rated at 525 VDC.
1-3/8" diameter x 3-1/2" tall Made in the USA $33.95

Not cheap, but could be interesting combo to save real estate, if you are not fanatic about seperating the grounds for each stage, to comply with star grounding principles.

Mark,
I forgot to mention that I was looking for 200uF/350V Mallory TC's a while back and they were not listed on Mouser's website. I sent an email to customer support at Mouser and they said that they do carry that value and would add it to the catalog. Within a week, it was on their site. You could try and them an email for the value you are looking for.

Tubesandmore.com has Sprague Atom 80uf/450v. The 160uf/350v Mallory caps won't be available at Mouser until 6-3-05.
