lookin' good - might as well wire up the standby the correct way though....
unless I'm not seeing it right. The first filter should be energized on power up, the choke (or resistor) and the output transformer should get voltage when you turn on the second switch.

It’s correct. I just ran out of red wire. The OP CT is going to the SB switch then to the choke or you can wire the CT to the choke then to the SB switch. Either way it should be fine.heisthl wrote:lookin' good - might as well wire up the standby the correct way though....

I hate to criticize but get rid of the silver mica on the PI plates - use a ceramic, Mica's are notorious for leaking.
Optional criticism - IMHO a carbon film slope resistor sounds better than a metal film.
Optional criticism #2 Are you sure you want the BM style PI? Be aware you will have less clean headroom and it can be an issue in a 50 watt build.

Hi Henry,
Could you elaberate what you mean by the BM style PI pertaining to the 50 watt amp?
This is how I was told to wire the power supply on my D'Lite.
Is the standby switch in the wrong place?
I have noticed that sometimes I get a pop when I power down.
I normally turn the standby off, then the power.

Re: New D'lite 44 build pic's
You would be better served to change the standby position in the circuit so the first filter gets charged but not the OT or choke resistor.
On a 50 watt amp the standard D style PI has more headroom, on the 100 watt although it too has more headroom there is enough with the BM style PI. The only reason to change is headroom and a "clearer" tonality.

Currently I have 110K/120K plate resistors on my amp.heisthl wrote:You would be better served to change the standby position in the circuit so the first filter gets charged but not the OT or choke resistor.

I do notice that if I go very loud that the clean channel has quite a bit of hair on it.
So dropping these to 100K/110K would clean it up? Or lower?
Thanx

Re: New D'lite 44 build pic's
I thought you had the 47k BM values, the difference between the 110k/120k and the 100k/110k is negligible. The B+3 voltage is more important and should not exceed 300v on either plate. If you want cleaner non OD tone and you're already running 220k/150k V1 plates w 5uf bypass you can reduce the size of the PI input cap and/or the V2 coupling cap.Structo wrote: Currently I have 110K/120K plate resistors on my amp.

I have a question for you.
What value do you have in the treble cap spot?
It's the third orange drop from the right.
A little tip for you although it's a bit late for the suggestion is to mount your components so you can read the values. I found this out after I had changed some things and didn't record them.
Later I couldn't remember what was where.

Re: New D'lite 44 build pic's
I have a suggestion, take it or leave it but it's how I do things.
Standardize the colors to the tubes. I use Red for plates, Green for grids, Yellow for cathodes and Blue for screens. I see you've used a variety of colors, but if you standardize it'll be easier to find a wiring mistake later.
JMO.
Looking good so far.

He's probably at the mercy at what came with the kit, maybe......

If we're nitpicking on wiring, use a shielded run from the OD trim wiper, it makes a difference.

Re: New D'lite 44 build pic's
really? It's like 1/2" long so I can't imagine the capacitance is a factor. I wonder what the difference could be.heisthl wrote:If we're nitpicking on wiring, use a shielded run from the OD trim wiper, it makes a difference.
Note to self: self, try shield on OD trim.
Re: New D'lite 44 build pic's
My run there is usually about 4" but it makes an audible difference in taming any harshness.
