My Tubes wont fire up!!

Post by Juicee Boxx »

hey i recently picked up a 5150 II and ive played it for about 3 months flawlessly. anyway yesterday i was playing it and all of the tubes cut out at once as if i shut if off.

I changed the fuse and the amp itself turns on. The problem is that none of my tubes will turn on. someone please help me!

This isn't much to go on.

What do you mean, the amp turns on? Be specific. What do you observe that tells you it's "on".

Do you know if the old fuse burnt open, or did you simply change it without checking? If you have the old one, you can see if it is open. Tell us if you can. If you don't know the difference, post a digital picture of it (close up and clear).

Are you saying all the tubes are dark, like light bulbs that are switched off, even though the amp power is on?

Any noise, smoke, or burnt smell?

Perhaps an HT fuse inside has blown.

I don't know about the 5150 II, but the old 5150s have a separate fuse in the filament circuit. It's inside the amp. There are probably other fuses inside, too. Make sure you find the right one -- it'll be big (in terms of amps).

If you find it, try to find out why it blew to begin with. Shorted filament etc.
