Perforated tag board source

Post by Justin »

Does anyone know of a good source for perforated tag board that is similar to what Ken used in his amps? It appears to be very convenient for moving around components and making changes.

The bad news.

Dear justin

The turret board material was sold by RS components. They have since discontinued selling the board material but continue to sell the turrets.

I believe the smaller standard turrets are the ones to use in these amps. The larger turrets are similar to ones used in Marshall amps.

FYI, I did manage to buy a sheet of the larger board before RS stopped selling it and it was exactly the same as the old Marshall stuff but without the red swirl.

The thing to do is probably go for G10 or something similar. I have tried contacting RS about the original source of the turret board with no luck at all.

Sory I couldn't be of more assistance.
Yours Sincerely

Never seen a Wreck's board, but if he used the old RS stuff, it'll be very hard to come. Because there's competition from the guys making/restoring vintage Marshalls.

I've used some in my part-done 18W clone. You can juse about make it out on the left of this pic:

It does come up on Ebay UK occasionally. Sold in boards that are 3x as wide as the board in my amp (21x27 holes, if I remember right).

I have access to a CNC vertical machining center where I work and might consider purchasing material and making the perforated board myself. If I decide do this would anyone out there be interested? If there is enough interest I will consider purchasing material and making a one time run. The material that I would be using is garolite G10 (3/32" thick) (yellowish color). Any info on hole diameter and center to center spacing would be greatly appreciated.

RS tagboard has been discussed over at the yahoo jtm45 group, and I know the spacings were discussed over there... If I can find it I'll post it...

Spacing is 3/8" and the holes appear to be 3/32" in diameter (best to take this from the turret's spec of course). The board is 1/8" thick. This info is taken from the genuine RS stuff: part no 433-551.
