thin blanket over Ceriatone OTS

Post by Steven_nl »

Hi Guys

Maybe I'm hearing things I'm not sure, but I have the feeling the sound of my Ceriatone OTS has changed a bit. It's almost as if there's a thin blanket over the sound. I have the feeling at first this happened after the amp was on for 10 minutes or so. You could hear a sudden (smal) change. Now I think it's constant.
I have a Kleinulator in the loop. I have both a regular and (since last night) a 19 inch version. Plus a G-Sharp and a Dynacord CLS222 Leslie (made true bypass).

I'm going to buy a cable tester this afternoon to rule out bad cables.
Do any of you have any ideas??

Thanks a lot for your help.

95% of the time this is a bad tube. The cable tester won't do what you want as a bad sounding cable can test good but still sound bad. I'd start by swapping some tubes, especally V1.

Steven,
Groeten van een overseas Dutchboy in New York! :D

Like Bob said, usually the tubes go bad but many many times the issue is a cable or another factor outside the amp. Check this first before diving into the amp.

Veel geluk!
