I'm looking at that Hey What! and wondering if he's thinking he's on to SSS.

I started to also and then thought maybe it might be a HiWatt clone, that wasn't moved out of the HAD section and will move with website revisions.

Nah... Impossible until someone shares pics and a layout. And that is not going to happen!

Scott,

I wonder how many people got started in the business of cloning by using shared pictures, before they ever got their paws on a real amp... Of course I could be mistaken, but I think the only likely two exceptions would be Two Rock and EJ/Tommy Cougar/Mystique Amps.

Cheers,

Gil

Very true. But in this case, the SSS is a very elusive beast and the info ahs not been shared specifically for a reason. ;)

Gil, the difference is that one should pay it back forward.... The concept of only taking but not adding or sharing is what irks me.

I understand, and for the most part I agree. I suspect the main difference between our positions is how we'd populate the list of those who do pay back forward and those who don't. Suffice it to say, you personally are way cool in my book, so that's not my angle -- in case anyone might have been tempted to make the inference.

Yet! People said the same for the ODS and the Trainwreck amps but in due time the beans were spilteded. I wonder how much of a 'market' there would be for something like a SSS or Winterland? Most people wouldn't be into totally clean amps that are louder than God. I'm kinda surprised he hasn't started selling SLOs and SLO kits...they are on about the same level as an ODS regarding build complexity and would likely have a LOT of customers.

There were some clips on TGP of it...sounded OK, not the best but certainly not bad...but I don't know if the test amp had lead dress issues that dogears found in his.

Scott, Gil,

I certainly understand having a "not paying back forward" attitude by offering nothing in return for gained knowledge here on this forum is well, selfish especially when used for personal gain. There are a lot of great contributors on this site 8) , and wish that I, and am sure, others could contribute more useful info. However, it's almost impossible to crack any undiscovered HAD circuits without having access to his chassis. As a result, a few of us here can only post our builds and mods based on what has been provided to us.

Thanks to you guys in the front lines for sharing your knowledge. There are some of us who would also like to be in the front lines as well. 8)

Bob, at least people here post about other stuff. Quite different than people joining a forum, logging in, taking ideas, and not making a single post ever!! I don't care if it is off topic. Just post....
