Now that Funk chassis are unavailable, is someone planning to fill the void?

I know of the 'natchanis,' 'noojwut,' and Ceriatone chassis, as well as the D'Lite chassis for a slightly different style of build, but the Funk chassis looked pretty nice. They looked like they had that extra something-something.

It's even got holes for 4 preamp tubes in case you decide to put a D'Lator in...if only it didn't have that name on it I'd be all over it.

Thanks Lars. That link is the Natchanis chassis that I mentioned in my first post. There are various reports here on the board of the natchanis work, and not all of them are 100%. Never having seen one myself, I'll just have to go with the words of others here. So thank you, but this one is already on my list as a no-no, as mentioned in post #1.

The Funk Chassis had no detractors.

Hello Guys,

I also tried to get one of Funks chassis at one point... missed that boat so I had to come up with another solution.

I have a long time friend in the machine shop business that can supply any chassis we ask for... below are some links to my sight which represent his work... These chassis are all .093 5052 aluminum with all the corners fully welded. Most of them are CNC machined before they are folded but If you want a very simple aluminum box, he can do that too...

I've got six of the 2.375x8x19.25 inch chassis in my shop right now. For the future, I will have all these pre-machined... As cool as it is to make it yourself, I don't need that joy any more.

As you can see he has made me some great chassis, faceplate, and rear panel sets. The panels are anodized and the text machined in and they look awesome. The shop also has fabricated various circuit boards for me using G-10 material and they have also been excellent! I can provide these parts for anyone that is interested in them, although I do have limited supplies and the turn around time is slow for more of them. I a hobby and curiosity builder and not a manufacturing house.

Recently the shop has been working with a screen printing shop in Albuquerque and the owner suggested we have some finished chassis lettered this way... I'll be doing this anyway for my own if there is interest in additional units then I'll consider you as partners and pass on the savings.

I think the result will be a chassis of similar quality and construction as the Funk units and I'll work at to get the best price for us.

What a great thing to see. These look very respectable. I would be interested in seeing the screen printed version as well.

Watts Audio has added a bunch of new sizes to their blank chassis line recently. They have 17.5"x8"x2.5" and 20"x8"x2.5". I used one of their chassis for my 18W. The only negative I would mention is that the corners are not welded, but with the .090" thickness it's not much of an issue.

They are very good quality, and they come with the 4 nuts already inserted on the corners. I don't know what you call that technique, but they are not welded, just pressed in so they stay in place. Unwelded corners don't seem to be an issue.
