Post by andrew »

I filleted a non working 2-6L6 Blues DeVille and I need help in the color code
wiring for the PT/OT. I looked at the Schematic Heaven's factory schematic but I can't decipher it .(being the newb that I am and extra import wires) Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Andrew

The primary side should be

blue red (center) brown

the secundary side (speaker connection)

green (hot) black (Ground)

Disclaimer: If you're a Newb you got to know that you're dealing with lethal voltages here!!!!!
And connecting the OT wrong could be a fatal mistake - so perhaps leave it to a pro!!

The only PT/OTs that I am familiar with are Hammond and Weber transformers. I have built many amps from scratch using their transformers but when confronted with a different brand (FENDER)
I take MUCH caution!

Here is the Hot Rod Deluxe schematic which has the color codes for the transformers. This file is very easy to read.

From looking at this drawing I think the taps for 120v primary would be the Black and Black/Yellow wires. Hook them up and see what voltages you get on secondary, aim at 340v-350v (maybe higher) on B+. 6.3v for filaments (maybe slightly higher).
Converted a 4-10 a while ago and was impressed with tone from the Fender iron.
