In Light of the recent postings it's become obvious that my being here has prevented valuable information from being posted...As this was never my intent. And apologize if I made some here feel uncomfortable as I don't want me or my company's name from being tarnished I have decided to exit the forum.. I wish to thank everyone including Brandon for all there help and valuable info and wish great pleasure on your amp builds.. If anyone wishes my help you can contact me @ talbany@vvtamps.com

I fully agree with you, if you just want to steal info and tips - stay away!
But, why don't you STAY - AND share information instead
I've read all the posts and its seems like the most of us are just guys, who subscribe to Alexander Dumbles great designs and ideas. We not here to start an amp business. I'm here to share info with likeminded people.

Tony,
I don't want you to leave, I want you to CONTRIBUTE. I read almost all your posts, and I see you asking for alot of stuff, but I never see you offering anything. That's all I'm saying, if you take a penny from the tray put one back every now and then- If you are using info that someone posted for the benefit of the DIY community to further your business, give something back. This is not a flame war, I do not dislike you or the fact that you are here, but I think fair is fair- You are not the only person here who fits this category BTW-
Also,
I do not feel that anyone is owed for the Dumble info(well Alexander, but he just hangs up the phone so why bother), HOWEVER, Gil's mods are just that GIL'S MODS, and are his-
Most of the Info that is here came from Gil directly or indirectly, Dogears and I have also been in a few Dumbles, and post this info for the love of amp building, to help folks inclined to build their own(where I for one started) and NOT for the financial gain of johnny come lateley's.

I appreciate the reply...As to what your definition of what contribute is and mine may be a bit different..My last several post's although may not be ground breaking... I did offer the layout and posted gut shots as well as how the amp turned out. Which is by the way going to Lou Toomey of Brooks and Dunn..
I also posted a lengthy article of my opinion on the different Dumble topologies and how I thought they applied in the real world.. As I feel I have earned that right only through LONG!! tedious hours of building testing and tweaking as well as 25 years of playing as a professional guitarist... Also posting a clip of a Nashville heavy and describing what amp it is with what mods so anyone building an amp for a slide player like that will have an idea of what to expect
Or letting a player listen to the clip to see if he likes it.. You don't have to tell him it's a VVT I don't care
I know all this stuff is trivial to you since you have had the privilege of being inside several Dumble's but there are many other people who might appreciate it
As for Gil's mods I did post the amp and credited Gil and PM Thanking him and offering my help with obtaining certain parts I get at good prices. And have done so with other people whose ideas I thought contributed to our designs
Due to Heisthl's help we are now doing warranty work for each other and have no problem sending him a heavy to have work done..
I do admit I have wanted to be more open with our design's but unfortunately have a partner who doesn't share the same opinion so I walk the fine line.. I do feel obligated to people who have helped me along and they know who they are and do owe this forum... It has only become recently where I have felt that my opinion will truly contribute since I have not had the luxury of poking around inside the real thing... I did it the hard way... Build and Tweak Build and Tweak...
So yes to answer your question I will try to contribute more... As long as Scott doesn't steal them and build a VVT clone!!! LOL!! Just kidding Scott you the MAN!!!

For those who care.. Here is the layout to the X-Model amp Lou Toomey is getting..
Is it a Dumble clone uh!! No... I omitted the 180k 100k Resistors for the entrance to the drive and Level Pot's Just shaped the top end there as well as no grid resistor on V2a...Lou was concerned with the thickness of the tone at fairly low volumes..... Taking Ken Fishers approach to less is more.. I think this change gives the OD more girth ..Also why I used 100k 1.5k plate cathode helps with a seamless transition from clean to OD...Got any questions be glad to answer.. As you can see I dont adhere to the textbook.. I'll use the topology and make these changes as to what the player desires..
