I would have loved to hear some playing with the SE/PP knob on the video.
Anyways, it sounds super. Great Job!

Re: trainwreck inspired amp vid
It was backed off of full PP a bit to add some swirl when pushed. It's a cool feature that fools folks. It drops your power roughly by half in full SE, but it certainly doesn't get much quieter. It's for tonal shaping and not reducing output. What it does do in that vein, is that it breaks up earlier and sounds nice a fat even at lower volumes, so it does help for those situations where you need to keep the volume low.
I've got a lot of things on my plate right now, but I will have more clips and such posted to my website (tonicamps.com). There are 3 samples there now that I posted here a while back.
The PG Demo Video is not all that great as it was pretty much impromptu. Luckily Jack was in the room at the time and couldn't stop playing it. He ended up purchasing that amp before the show ended. He's loving this amp and says his others are not getting much love (bunch of vintage Fenders, 2 Alessandros, a couple Matchless, Snider, etc.). I do have to give major props to PG for making the effort to do all these demos as it captured the atmosphere of the event and gave exposure to those who allowed the demos to happen.

Constructive criticism time
Get a mic stand for the cab
Use a strat w/vintage style pups (real pools love dem ole strats)
That prs type fiddle acts like a fuzz box with the hb's
Demo the amp with open chords, both clean and driven, to expose the note seperation
Finally, get a BB and the Stingers cd
Enjoy the quest

Re: trainwreck inspired amp vid
Thanks for the feedback. However I think you missed part of this thread. Premier Guitar magazine came room to room at the NY Amp Show and did demo videos unrehearsed, with a guy with the camera and another with an SM57 that he held roughly in front of the cab. Not ideal at all, but I commend their efforts for doing this as it was a lot of work.chimeboss wrote:Constructive criticism time

I have a vintage strat, but it stayed safely at home in CA. I agree that a Liverpool and a strat are a wonderful combo. Many folks at show came through with a variety of guitars (teles, strats, LPs, SGs, and I had my PRS and LP there).
The guy playing in the video was a local NJ guy who came to the show with a band mate just to check it out. He came back numerous times and happened to be there when they shot the video.
I have better sound samples of that particular amp on my website. The website is a work in progress, but the clips work.

I am working to refine the site and get the art work completed. The logo isn't even done yet. That's like rev 5 and we're now on rev 12. Anyway, the clips there will give you a better idea of the real tone of that amp.

Darren, what type of tolex are you using on the 'pool in the video? That pattern is really cool!
I went to your site, great clips, cat can really play! What guitar is he using? Finally, if that is what the EL84 amp is like, what is the EL34 amp like? It must be a real BEAST.

Re: trainwreck inspired amp vid
even with the lack of less than ideal recording conditions I think the quality of the tone still shines through, and it's cool to see a familiar face from the forum get some recognition, keep up the good work darren

Thanks Guys!
The Tolex is a Hiwatt style black with white piping. Oversized closed back 212 cab. The cab was loaded with regular Made in the UK G12M. I was supposed to have Fane AXA 12 in my cabs, but they were held up in customs arriving from the UK.
Terry can really play and I was ecstatic with what he did for these clips. I was expecting some noodleing and he wrote whole pieces of music.
The guitars he used were a 66 ES 345 all original save for new frets. He also used a few of his creations. One is a 335ish shaped carved top of spruce with a chambered solid body of mahogany. That one is loaded with PAF clones and is super warm. You can hear the difference between the 345 and the spruce top on the BB Kingish number. Great woman tone from that guitar. On the edgy piece, the background rhythm guitar is a strat the he made. Custom pups of some sort.
Terry also is my go to guy for guitar work. He did such an amazing job on my strat refret, it plays better than ever. Same with my LP.
I got word from my graphic artist that the logo should be final today!!!
The EL34 version is thicker, and more throaty.

Him diggin your amps is a positive thing,
Taking criticism is just as rewarding.
