I recently scored a 1962 Magnavox console stereo set in nearly perfect working order. The PT is from General Electric and the two OTs are Stancor. It runs a two pair of EL84s, and has a choked power supply with a 5U4 recto at present. So, that's a pretty beefy PT and two top notch PTs.
I really liked the Rocket I built (powered by 6V6s), and the Express I built a couple of years ago was cool, too. Both of those amps have other homes now, so I'm thinking of putting this vintage iron to use in a Wreck, either with a Liverpool or Rocket preamp.
Which do y'all think would sound best into a stereo power amp? The tonal possibilities are interesting, since, with different Rk on each EL84 pair, they can be voiced a bit differently. Different speakers or speaker cabs can also factor into the mix.
I know several members have built Wrecks with 18watt EL84 power, so which circuit do y'all think would suit this plan best?

I'm building a 4Xel34 Express for a guy that loves his Express but, needs more power to use on tour. Custom trannys. I hope they will sound the same.

The amp I built a year ago, was 50W, the real challenge that I had was trying to match the plate voltages to Dana's Express clone. When I finished the amp it sounded good but not nearly as good as Dana's amp. Once I did some other mods and had those plate voltages and bias it was there.... I am sure yours will be awesome....Would that be a 100W? the regular express is plenty loud, 100w will blow peoples heads off
Re: How about a dual OT Wreck?
I'm thinking between 80-90 Watts would be closer. I'm sure it will be plenty loud!
