When he was in Sydney one time one of the local luthiers built him a cigar box guitar with pedals installed. I got to build him a road case - can't remember if either of us charged him. He was a real nice guy. He'd bought his daughter with him to Oz and she used to sit in on drums at his gigs - just the old smoky pub scene ones.

Anyone remember the TV commercial he was in - probably for Nike - that also featured Bo Jackson? It was back in the days when Bo (J) was going around saying, "Bo knows", etc, etc.

At the end of the commercial, Bo (J) had Bo (D's) rectangular guitar, and played someting just horrible (think: Dr. Hook lead break on "Rolling Stone")... Bo (D) says...

"Bo, you don't know diddley!"

Great stuff.

Or a great shot is him in the George Thorogood "Bad to the Bone" video.

I met him, chatted with him, asked some stupid questions, and he was alright! Back around '83, in Rochester NY.
