Post by skyboltone »

I just bought 10 6P14P-EV from an Ebayer in Roosha. Wish me luck. $4.50 each, shipped.

Those are killer tubes Dan. You can beat the snot outta them and they take voltages that will send most EL84's up in sparks.

For a while Sovtek was selling them as EL84's. Made by Reflektor I believe? I have a pair and like them a lot. Wouldnt mind grabbing another pair... I'm down in San Mateo, if they show up and you'd be interested in trading for a pair...

I'll keep you posted. I'm preparing to attack the H.H. Scott 299/LK48 market for tunes at my shop. I figured I might find a matched quad in the 10. There should be a couple for you.

I'm running a quad of 'em in a Scott 222c integrated; I had to use a SS recto replacement with a 40-50v drop in order to have new EL84s live for more than a few minutes...With the Russkies I put the Sylvania 5AR4 back in and let 'er rip! 420V plates all day long; been running for 2 years plus now (the unit has NO ON/OFF switch!!) I think you'll LOVE 'em.

Hey, I've got a few of those coming as well. I gather you're planning to use them in hi-fi applications- Has anyone tried them in a T-wreck? Are they mainly thought of as audiophile gear? I'm glad to hear they have a rep. for longevity - We seem to be using a lot of output tubes

I'm definitely gonna try it. The reviews all suggest more headroom in amps like the AC-30 etc. If you stick with Ken's voltages you sure don't need them for a liverpool though.
