Tone secret revealed! The key to Dumble tone is to line up the nuts on the mini toggles........ :D

For the star ground points I used a tap to thread the screw holes to help ensure a good ground contact with the anodized chassis.

Since the holes are threaded for the screw, a little wrench can help tighten the nuts.

I saw a whole thread dealing with order of construction. Part of what I am doing is working in layers, based on the #124 pictures. So, the circuits close to the chassis will go in first (like the ground leads) and last will probably be the stuff up in the air, like the transformer leads and heaters.

The picture shows the completed pilot light circuit.

Got V1 partially wired, then realized the Overtone layout that I had been referring to has the tube sockets reversed from the Dumble :( , so I had to re-do it...I want to make sure I include all the 'Dumble vodoo' in this amp. :)

Main board almost ready to be attached. I still have not gone over all the components to compare to the schematic. Still deciding on my OD input network. I am thinking of trying 150k into 350k trimmer. 150k just because it is already in the board, no other reason.

Preamp tube wiring is finished. Last thing to be attached was the orange negative feedback lead. Getting all the leads arranged correctly was a lot of work! This chassis has the tubes spaced closer together (because there is an 'extra' preamp tube hole), so it was a tight fit.

The very, very astute observer may notice that the effects loop jacks are reversed. This is because the printed graphics on the back on my chassis are reversed from #124.

At first I wasn't sure which three tube holes to use. I chose the three that were closest to the power amp section, and this seemed to work out OK.

Here is a picture I got off the internet. I think it shows a build on the same or a similar chassis with 4 preamp tube holes. In this case they put the 'extra' hole between the preamp and PI stage. Also, looks like he filled the 'extra' hole with a non-functional socket (probably fitted with a tube that would glow ;) )
