Re: Bludotone in the house!
Here is a fresh Bludo clip. Moved the SM57 into a much better spot. It was on the edge for the other clip.

This one is really good and of all the excellent clips you've posted lately, the character in this sound sounds like it would jump out of the mix in a live situation without having to play way too loud.dogears wrote:Here is a fresh Bludo clip. Scott, THIS is the one. One of my all time favorites. That's gotta be the smoothest most subtle hair I've yet heard. There are situations in which I'd want more hair, but for what you're doing on the clip I dig it.

Is this the std Bludo transformer set?
Brandon, I seem to remember you saying these were optimized for el34 use (load on power tubes)

Huh?? these are "special" trannies, but they would work fine for 6l6 or EL34.

						Admittedly...
So, I downloaded the clip... Put on a set of headphones... and continued surfing the forum...
The next thing I know I'd been listening to the clip looping through for about 15 minutes straight. Not fatigueing at all.
I consider that a huge success! [figuratively shakes hands]
I'm surprised no one has asked yet...
What were you running the D'later into??
Just a touch of something, obviously...
Just wanted to congratulate you guys for sharing this stuff. It's inspiring.
And the clip, of course, will provide a great tone reference (among a select few) when building my next D clone...
Sincerely,
Steve

Re: Admittedly...
Thanks Steve! I wasn't running anything in the loop. Not even a straight cable in the loop. I did use 6 foot Lava ELC to hook the loop to and from the amp. It does darken things so the amp is tweaked to provide the correct brightness levels when using the loop.
I added a touch of verb and delay to the dry recorded signal after the fact.
Thanks again!

Verb & Delay...
Scott, & anyone else for that matter...
Question: Regarding Post verb & delay effects...
I notice that a lot when I hear your clips as well as others that have posted...
Obviously you can't do that when you play 'out'... So I'm curious what you choose to patch in to the d'lator when performing live?
And... do you use anything on the front end? Or both?
Obviously the D-type amps are so tone and texture rich and the OD so functional that not much is needed at all for most forms of rock/blues/jazz... However, do you have preferences for outboard effects?
I would presume rack mount stuff?
Or does anyone run pedals into their D'lators?
I'm curious, 'cause I'm considering building a d'lator to compliment my next build.
Any feedback would be most appreciated...
Steve

Re: Bludotone in the house!
So true Steve, since I built my 6L6 D'Lite 44 my dirt pedals have been collecting dust!
