Hello dear Fender enthusiasts,
I built an amp head with the AB764 circuit (see pictures below). The only change to the original circuit is the use of a solid-state rectifier instead of a rectifier tube.
I found that the circuit was probably used in the Vibro Champ, but I'm wondering where the name “Bronco” comes from. Was there an amplifier with that name? I couldn't find a picture... I now want to build it as a combo and would like to stay close to the original.
Does anyone have pictures or perhaps even more information about the Bronco?
greets from Franconia!

Common horse/American west theme with Mustang. Guitars and amps were marketed with these names. Bronco is Spanish for “rough.”

The Bronco is nothing more than a renamed Champ/ vibrochamp.
They were made from 1967 to 75.
In the 90s the Bronco name was brought back but this time it was like a 50s tweed champ, not the original silver face Fender.
In terms of building one of these do not do as they did with the originals and land one leg of the filament supply to the chassis.
Build it the tad more expensive and better way with 2 separate filament wires runs and the normal 100 ohm 1/2 watt balance resistors, or better yet wire wound balancing pot deal as found in the later silver face bigger Fender amps with a master volume pot.
I would also like to make note with you that like in your picture long grid wire runs to get to the controls and tone circuit are a open invitation to potential oscillating conditions and if nothing else degraded high end harmonics even when using shielded wire due to the shielded wires capacitor effect.

Thank you very much for your quick and very informative answers!
During construction, I already installed the heating system as suggested here.
I was actually concerned too, that the approx. 30 cm long wires to the tone stack could lead to muffled sound and vibrations. Fortunately, this was not the case.
The guitarist who plays it with a 2x10“ speaker is very satisfied

The Bronco is identical to the vibro champ circuit, with some red/orange decorative appointments. It was marketed as a set with the Bronco guitar, an entry level guitar-amp combo.
I have a basketcase bronco amp somewhere in my basement.
