Lend an ear please. I like this tone....
Hi guys,
I just recorded this clip this morning. This is HRM with no Bluesmaster. Standard PI and stuff. I added a whole bunch of little ceramics to my loop to simulate the capacitive losses of the cable. My loop is built in so there is none of the high end smoothing going on. Now there is......
Bottom line is me likey! Am I on the right track?? SM57 and Baker B1 on bridge, reasonable volume.

As a point of reference, here is RF live with a Tele, cranking loud, e609 mic (I think), and lots of TC2290.

Robben's tone has more bite to it, more ping and snap on the attack. Yours has a more smooth attack. The rest of the charactor seems about the same. I'll be it's the Tele proving that snap.

For me, this tone is a little too mushy, though I do really like it when you dig in and pick a little harder. Playing is very cool though. And that said I don't think it would take more than a small turn of the treble knob to make me happy.
Re: Lend an ear please. I like this tone....
Interesting! I had my choke/resistor set on the no choke setting. That makes is mushier and a little less articulate on top. With the switch on choke it is faster and brighter. I'll have to record another take!!
Oooh, I also had my snubber switch on, it has 270pf on V2. I kind of like it off fwiw.... A little more top end harmonics.
Thanks again for listening guys!!

Your sick. In the best way of course....

Yeah I agree with ampdork here....who on earth would come up with mimicking the capacitance of the loops' cables...LOL! Brilliant!
Great tone and playing, I love it,

+1 but you covered all that in your subsequent post.benoit wrote:For me, this tone is a little too mushy, though I do really like it when you dig in and pick a little harder. Definitely on the right track, Scott. Best tone I've heard from you in a long time. But maybe try a Tele for a proper comparison??
Great playing, as usual.

Hey Scott,
Haven't chimed in before but that is my favorite tone of anything you have posted. Obviously this is my personal preference, but that is SICK! My build will soon be under way and now I have a clear cut goal of what I want it to sound like. Keep it up.

Thanks guys!!
Amp really sounds amazing in the room.
I remixed the clip btw. I removed the DSP delay on it. The new mix is just teh amp and a little plate verb. The tone opened up a lot.

Very engaging lines - you definitely have some rapport between guitar and amp that seems to be going beyond your previous offerings.
I've been thinking that the HRM wasn't for me because the tone seemed too compressed, but as others have commented, there is smoothness to this clip which I like (the monkey's had some hair removal)!

I have been telling Scott to get a tele for a couple of years now....Bob-I wrote:Robben's tone has more bite to it, more ping and snap on the attack. Yours has a more smooth attack. The rest of the charactor seems about the same. I'll be it's the Tele proving that snap.
