Dirty Tremolux

Post by bluescaster »

Hello

I have a 63 Tremolux that worked very well until last week. Now, when I play, after a certain amount of random time, the sound gets dirty and I feel like I'm losing power. I'm playing with vol pot on 5. Same problem on the 2 channels.

Phase inverter tube, Power tube ?

Can you give me some leads to follow please? All filter caps were changed last year.

Regards

With that issue on a Tremlux if it's a tube problem then yes, it's the PI tube or the output tubes or dirty tube sockets that might need replacing.

For now just swap out that PI tube with the first preamp tube on the far right as viewed from the rear of the amp and see if that improves things.
You do not have to put the PI tube in that first socket to turn the amp on, but note that leaving that tube out will kill out output from that normal channel.

There are other things that could be going on even though the filters have been replaced.

Thanks for the follow up. Did you find a replacement for the OT?
