multitap wiring

Post by hebaton »

I am replacing a single tap OT with a multitap ( 4 and 8 ohms ). There will be no switch, instead, one tap will connect to the "speaker" jack, the other to the "external" jack.
Since the "Speaker" is a shorting jack, how would I wire this ? Do I need to replace that jack , or somehow prevent it form shortint ?

Thank you !

No need to replace the jack. Just remove the jumper between the switch and sleeve lugs.

I think you will need to leave the switch terminal disconnected; using the external jack with nothing connected to the "speaker" jack would short the "speaker" secondary to ground in parallel with the loaded "external" secondary, essentially bypassing the load completely.
