Starting a 100 Watt #124 Build

Post by joesnuffey »

I’m getting the last of my parts assembled to begin a 100 watt build based on 124. Could anyone guide me to a good source for the 300uF 350V electrolytic capacitors, as well as the 2kL pot for the presence control?

For the 2K pot, something like this https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Al ... Xxww%3D%3D

Most people sub 220 uF caps for main filters. If you really want 330 uF, then you probably have to go to a snap in style cap and wire for your board accordingly.

Good luck with your build!

As suggested above, 330u snap-in caps are readily available, and it’s easy to convert the all-axial cap board to all- or part-radial.
For the presence pot, a 5k with a 3k3 resistor across the element will make a 2k. I have that combination in my 124-ish ODS and it works fine.

When I built my 124 I gave up on finding the proper value axial so went with Nichicon radials from Digikey. I like them but can't give you a comparison to others due to my limited experience.

I used the 2k Dan already suggested from Mouser.
