Ultimate lead dress
Is there such a thing or is every amp unto itself. What are the rules of lead dress please.
Re: Ultimate lead dress
I'll start so people can comment:
Eeveryone has their own opinion mine is to put the heaters high in the air, run the cathodes and plate wires close to the chassis with the grid wires at chassis or board level. if you have to cross over a plate wire do it at a right angle. The cathode wires are so close to ground potential that they don't bother anything in fact on the first 2 tubes Dumble would run the cathode wire from the first side of a tube in parallel and even touching the plate wire of the second half of the tube. At the pots I tend to run tone stuff above the pots and volume stuff below the pots. I try to keep the O.T. (speaker) wires away from everything, ditto for the O.T. Primary wires, within reason.
Study some real Dumble photos for more insight(s).

Do you think it could be the lead dress?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Sorry, but I don't remember where I found this pic, just thought it was a fun example for lead dress.

The first Dumble?

That's probably one of the old ENIAC computers.
At least they didn't have to heat the room it was in.....
It contained 17,468 vacuum tubes!

Re: crank that baby
It probably did! It might even sterilize you if you got too close!angelodp wrote:man if that could produce a sound!!
Playing an instrument doesn't make you a musician, listening does.
