Understood. The goal here is to find commercially available, in production components. Nothing against the exotic of course, except they are often unsustainable, usually quite over-priced and (quite likely) offer intangible benefits over current production runs. There may even be superior modern equivalents. Don't want to dig up a repeat of a conversation that's been going on elsewhere in this forum but please, pray tell... what is your secret sauce ?

For all the Draloric lovers , how do you feel about the current offerings?

I don’t use ketchup …too sweet….just mix mustard and mayo instead. I prefer fresh tomatoes.

The LCA is a find! But only 220k, and yet rohs compliant. Makes me think that these are reissues and it could herald a new line in the works. As for the the other CFs, even mouser, with its vast Texan inventory is poorly stocked with the kind of values we seek.

For instance a 3k/5W (the first in the dropping string) is non-existent. For that, I would try the Hi-Fi Collective over in England - Brexit be damned! Perhaps even TME in Poland. We might have to be happy with anything we get. I will be pimping out the PS though so anything will do for a start and later on, when I have dialled in the voltages I will start looking around for suitable replacements. No reason to go spending loads of money on premium parts when the values are still likely to change...

Tomatoes grown in the volcanic soil of Vesuvius - perfetto! Every other, add a little sugar. It removes the bitterness.

What makes you think the Dralorics in 102 and 124 Power supply are 5W? :P

183 doesn’t use CF there anyways, if that’s your benchmark .

Sorry! Yeah! You're right I was looking at the photo and couldn't see the Ward Leonard behind the caps. Even so, a 22k and 2k2/2W, both TE Connnectivity because of the better temp coefficient if nothing else. The MF TE Conn resistors I've used did sound a little plain but it's either that or KOA and Yageo. In the PS I think the TE Conn would be fine.

Cheap enough to audition all three brands in any case.

The 20 series Ohmite for the 3K :)

…no smoke yet over here …

Btw the derating curve of KOA SPR doesn’t look too shabby friend … worse has worked for others…

Annoyingly! Can't find the de-rating curves for TE Conn. It's fair game though, I'm not sure the temp coefficients are hugely important in any case. I'd be happy to try them all out and I would be surprised if it had anything more than a subtle difference. Saying that, the role of the dropping string on frequency response is likely to be noticeable.

This stuff is all so subjective , but you know how I eliminate all shadows of a doubt whether something makes a significant difference ?

I A B test it with my wife in the room … if it sounds bad she’s gonna let me know without a doubt ! Vice versa if it’s good .

I might not agree with her on what sounds better , but I tend to trust the ears of those who don’t play guitar, especially girls . Harder to impress.

We keep our financial affairs separate …unsurprisingly she’s generally a bit more prepared for a rainy day lol
