Rock/Jazz
I’ve been looking at the ODS in all its variety. I wonder what the value is of the Rock/Jazz switch. I’ve not found a good video that shows the Jazz setting in a favorable, usable light, but can’t vouch for the accuracy of the audio/video. It just sounds like a low-gain setting. Anyone here like the option of Jazz mode, or do you hardwire it in Rock? I know some who do…

first open more first volume to add pre-gain to OD section,
then open totally OD gain, or how you like it! it is different but stil good!
im using it when i change the speaker (which is new, and has more highs, during break in period).
also Jazz shines for slide guitar, there is no any better drive to my ears..
Re: Rock/Jazz
For myself,
The Jazz Position is more than a low setting: it's (too ) a different Equalization.
I use it a lot with a Semi-Hollow ( a PRS Hollowbody I with Jim Wagner Crossroad pickups) and I get a bunch of Larry Carlton style sounds for example , jazz (! ) sounds
 ) sounds

Re: Rock/Jazz
Jazz setting very useful for small spaces!

VERY GOOD. I've never built one of these, but will take the plunge in the next few months. I'm thinking ODS clean only/Small Special derivative. I have an ODS clone that has a very shrill overdrive. Not sure if that's fair for all ODS overdrive circuits. But if Robben Ford only uses the clean, and looking at all the boost pedals I have here in the garage, well, a clean ODS might just make some sense. Sacrilege aside, putting a real tube, clean overdrive in the loop could get you somewhat close, so long as it's not noisy, right?

WOW. Thanks for the clip, Tony.
I'm going to assume that was a proverbial "No Overdrive? [EDIT: AND Jazz mode!] Hold my beer..." post. NOTED.
WOW.
What am I supposed to do now?... ...
Just plug it in, man.

I've only had a 183 build up an running for a really short time, and far from optimized at that, but the overdrive is not shrill at all.

I also find myself mostly in Rock mode but I did find an interesting setting I like in Jazz. If I hit the pre amp boost switch in Jazz mode when i am in the clean channel the amp has a really nice round and smooth sound happening. The boost is very intense when in Jazz mode too.
